1. Acceptance of Terms
By receiving membership, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (‘Terms’). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately cease membership; and cease using our website and/or services.
2. About
Greek Youth of South Australia Incorporated (‘GYSA’) is a not-for-profit organisation, incorporated in South Australia. Our mission is to is to provide a welcoming “place to go” for Greek Youth — a space where they can meet, relate, and feel comfortable surrounded by people who share their roots. We are committed to keeping the Greek culture alive through social and cultural events that honour tradition while embracing modernity. Whether you’re a university student, a young professional, or simply someone who loves Greek culture, GYSA is your community.
3. Definitions
- ‘We’, ‘Our’, ‘Us’ and ‘GYSA’ refers to Greek Youth of South Australia Incorporated.
- ‘Members’ refer to those who meet the membership criteria who have paid their membership fees.
- ‘Committee’ refer to the Committee of GYSA.
- ‘Affiliate Organisations’ refer to those organisations who GYSA has entered into agreement with for collaboration.
- ‘University Affiliate’ refers to University Organisations GYSA has entered into agreement with for collaboration and recognition of the University Organisations’ members as GYSA members.
- ‘Sponsors’ refers to those organisations who have agreed to provide assistance to GYSA after entering into a sponsorship agreement.
- ‘Services’ refers to our website, online content, events, programs, or other activities provided by GYSA.
4. Membership & Eligibility
Membership is offered in the form of the following:
- Ordinary Membership: open to those aged 18 to 30. A person aged 30 turning 31 in the calendar year may retain membership until the year’s end. Ordinary Membership is received through paying the prescribed annual fee to the Committee within a week of payment.
- University Affiliate Membership: open to all current members of University Affiliates. University Affiliate Membership is received upon becoming a member of a University Affiliate, and by accepting membership to GYSA. University Affiliate Membership is free of charge.
Membership is valid for a year from the date of joining.
Fees are listed on our website and are subject to change.
Memberships are non-refundable unless required by law.
5. Membership Conduct
- GYSA is a place for all members to participate, safely, and respectfully.
- Members are expected to behave lawfully and respectfully.
- All forms of offensive, defamatory, or abusive content have no place within GYSA. Harassment, misconduct, and bullying will not be tolerated. All allegations against GYSA members will be taken seriously, and will be followed by a transparent process before the Committee determines if membership should cease. This decision would be open to appeal at the next General Meeting.
- Members may be suspended for any illegal activity which may bring GYSA into disrepute, or by breaking any of GYSA’s Terms.
- Members may be suspended or expelled from GYSA, and barred from using our services if you breach these Terms.
- To voluntarily cease membership, an application must be made to the Committee in writing, or to wait until their membership lapses.
6. Privacy
Your use of our services is subject to our Privacy Policy. This explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using our services, you consent to our handling of your personal information.
7. Intellectual Property
All content on this website (text, images, etc.) is: owned by GYSA; licenced to GYSA; or is of free use. All content owned by GYSA or licensed to GYSA is protected by Australian copyright and intellectual property laws. Those without permission may not reproduce or distribute our content, unless expressly permitted per Australian law.
8. Third Party Links
Our website may contain links to third party websites. We are not responsible for the content or accuracy of those sites. Those sites are accessed at your own risk.
9. Liability & Governing Law
- GYSA excludes all liability to the fullest extent permitted by law for any loss or damage arising from the use of our services, including: direct; indirect; or consequential loss.
- Nothing in these Terms excludes rights under Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
- These Terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, and the Commonwealth of Australia. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
10. Changes to These Terms
GYSA may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will take effect from the date they are posted on our website, and will be communicated to members if changes have been made. Continued use of our services and continued membership constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
